Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - Simply the Best

Are you serious about your photography? if so have you considered stepping up from a point and shoot model like the SX10 IS or similar to what is known as the Digital SLR's like the Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens. If so I would like you to consider some of the pro and cons that were found from my research, based upon actual user feedback.

The feedback for this product was very positive in-deed, first off, the main positive gained was the the ease at which an amateur photographer could step up and take, what would be considered a semi-professional unit, some would say professional, and produce some magnificent images, by utilising the auto mode function, which allows you to click away until your hearts content, that point on its own is worth further investigation. This is almost all due to the stabilisation lens function, the product possesses, which Canon clearly have tucked away! It is said to be like having a mobile tripod wherever you go!

The XSI is a significant from Canon, which bring in features that you can normally, only expect to see on much more expensive units(professional) at a far greater cost...

The 12.2MP sensor provides more than enough resolution than you would ever need as an amateur, or even as a semi-pro, enabling excellent pixel resolution upto 8"x12" and with a little tinkering on the menu setting, maybe even 12"x18", although this might require a further investment in lens technology.

The camera is fast enough for action shots, sporting events etc.., with a response of 3.5fps.

If you know what you are doing the XSI gives you the ability to adjust all the settings manually, for me the auto function was perfect.

The menus offered where found to be intuitive and fast, the lens supplied was a 18-55IS which was found to be OK, but not brilliant, as long as you can recognise, that it has its limitations and you are safe in the knowledge that Canon supplies the largest number of lenses to fit this unit with ease, but having said that the 18-55IS was very capable across its full zoom range.

I trawled through a serious number of reviews, and they were heavily weighted towards the positive, they all had the same things to say

-Pictures were sharp
-Camera was simple to use, for those stepping up
-Camera is light and well balanced

But if you look hard enough, you are bound to find someone who was not satisfied with their purchase.

I read a couple of user reviews that expressed concern with the on-flash function that fires off 8-10 bursts, instead of the usual 2, so taking pictures in dim light is not recommended, according to this particular reviewer. Also there was some disappointment with the lack of the flexible screen on the rear, and don't forget, it does not have a "video function"

Our Research on the Canon Digital Rebel XSI 12.2MP DSLR Suggests:

That this product really is, hitting the boundary wall as far as entry level DSLR cameras are concerned, allowing complete auto mode for beginners in this field and also giving the pro the ability to use a light but well built unit and push out , near perfect images, albeit with the help of some upgrade in the lens department..

The stabilisation function is considered a truly magnificent piece of engineering holding steady the image whilst on the move.

Verdict:
If you are pro looking for a downgrade or an amateur looking for an upgrade, the Canon Rebel XSI, ticks all the boxes with ease.
