A Family Photoblog For the New Year

My family has gone nuts over photography. As parents we have enabled this behavior by purchasing our daughters cameras. They love to take photos of people they know, places they go and things they do. My oldest is never without her camera. She has a Canon Powershot SX10 IS. Not to be outdone, my youngest daughter has a Powershot SD series camera. Dad has a Canon Rebel T1i and mom also has a Rebel Digital. With all this photography equipment we thought it would be a shame to allow an opportunity to take photos to go to waste.

The oldest does not need a excuse to take photos. She is always taking a photo to update her Facebook. She and her friends are crazy about sharing photos. The youngest goes in spurts. Mom and dad simply needs to find time. So the idea was to set up a photoblog which would give everyone a goal to meet each day.

We went to WordPress.com and set up a free blog. It is easy enough to update and upload the latest photographs. We simply write a blurb about what the photograph was about and then post the photo. It could not be easier.

The oldest likes to take creative photos. She really pushes her imagination in interesting ways. The things she sees and her ideas are quite inspiring. The youngest likes to take photos of goofy things like the dog or guinea pigs. Mom loves to take photos of the stuff she cooks or creates. Dad likes to take photos of the outdoors, mixing interesting textures and viewpoints.

We hope to be able to keep photoblogging throughout the year. It will be very interesting to look back in a few months to see what we blogged about. Personally my hope is to improve each day/month/week in taking better photos. I can say for sure that the extended family all over the country already find it fascinating to see what we are going to post next. They think it is a great idea. I think every family could find value in this kind of blogging.

Why is the Pre-Charged battery better?
The Pre-Charged AA Battery is the next step in battery evolution. Original Alkaline batteries could only be used once and had to be thrown away. Bad for the environment, and bad for your wallet. Why throw money away? Ni-MH Rechargeable batteries were the solution, they could be used over and over again, but they had to be charged right out of the package, and would slowly drain even when not being used. If left sitting for a few months after being charged it would drain completely. The latest and greatest battery technological improvement, the Pre-Charged AA, overcomes these limitations by being ready to use right out of the package and holding it's charge up to four times as long. You can charge your batteries and they will be ready to go when you need them, no more charging immediately before use. *These batteries will work with any device that uses AA batteries. Place them in your Emergency/disaster kit and they will be ready when you need them or simply use them daily for all your electronic devices. Compatible with - CANON EOS Rebel Xsi PowerShot DC210, DC220, DC40, 350, A10, A100, A1000 IS, A1100 IS, A20, A200, A2000 IS, A2100 IS, A30, A300, A310, A40, A400, A410, A430, A460, A470, A480, A510, A520, A530, A540, A550, A560, A570 IS, A580, A590 IS, A60, A610, A620, A630, A640, A650, A70, A700, A710 IS, A720 IS, A75, A80, A85, A95, E1, S1 IS, S2 IS, S3 IS, S5 IS, SX1 IS, SX10 IS, SX100 IS, SX110 IS, SX120 IS, SX20 IS

Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image  Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch Articulating LCD

The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS is definitely a step up from a point-and-shot and a step down from an SLR with changable lenses. Its size is convenient for the image control you get. Its image control (exposure, focus, close-ups) is excellent. It even takes movies. I strongly recommend purchasing a User's Guide to get the most out of all of its features. I got "A Short Course In Canon PowerShot SX20 IS Photography" manual that I really like. The documentation that comes with the camera is limited and mostly online. Note that this camera does not come with a memory card. I got some SanDisk Ultra II SDHC 4GB memory cards for it that work great.
